FAQs

WHO WILL BE THE PHOTOGRAPHER?
I, Ryan Ahern, will be your photographer, along with my assistant(s).

CAN WE HAVE AN ADDITIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER?
Yes, and in most cases, a second photographer is provided on the day.

WE DON'T LIKE POSING MUCH. WHAT IS YOUR STYLE?
I don't like the stereotypical posing all so common in wedding photography either, so don't worry. My style is a blend of fine-art and photojournalistic. That is to say, at times semi arranged, yet mostly candid, with the intent always being a genuine interaction.

HOW MANY PHOTOS DO WE GET?
The total number of photographs for a wedding day can range from 400 to 1000 depending on circumstances. Though on average you can expect around 500 images. All of these Digital Negatives from the day are provided to you for your use. As for film photos there are a lot less due to the slower process of composition and limited number of shots per film roll.

WE LIKE ANALOG FILM PHOTOGRAPHY. DO YOU ALSO OFFER THIS SERVICE?
Yes. I love the look of film photography as well and would be more than delighted to photography your wedding with analog film cameras. Generally I do a 'hybrid' style and combine traditional film with modern digital to create a unique look. There is a nominal surcharge for the addition of film photography just to cover development costs.

ARE ALL PHOTOS ARTISTICALLY RETOUCHED?
Yes. Artistic retouching takes a significant amount of time and on average couples are delivered around 500 hand-crafted images for use. These images are either in TIF or JPEG format.

WHAT ARE DIGITAL NEGATIVES?
They are simply the equivalent to the negatives produced from film cameras: they are full resolution, archivable, and in capable hands serve as the means to create beautiful artwork. Digital Negatives, not to be confused with TIF or JPEG renditions, have no editing done to them but are adjusted for correct colour and exposure. These negatives are used for proofing.

WHAT TYPE OF PRINTING OPTIONS DO YOU OFFER?
A vast range of printing options are available from wall mounts through to coffee-table albums. All prints use the finest quality lustre paper and ensure longevity and will not fade compared with standard cheap printing outlets. Museum quality prints are also available to ensure your memories are around for generations to come.

CAN WE MEET TO DISCUSS WEDDING PLANS AND OPTIONS?
Yes, we would be more than happy to meet with you in person over coffee or via Skype to discuss the possibility of photographing your special day.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH WEDDINGS NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY?
Yes, we do destination wedding photography. In these cases the cost of travel and accommodation would need to be covered by you unless otherwise agreed. Destination weddings are generally classified as those outside of the Perth - Southwest area.

THERE ARE SOME KEY SHOTS I WOULD LIKE, CAN YOU TAKE THEM?
Yes, it can be arranged that certain key shots are taken, time permitting, such as the bride with her nieces, though it's best to arrange this prior to the day and to send us a list of those particular shots.

DO WE NEED AN ENGAGEMENT / PRE-WEDDING SESSION?
Engagement sessions are not included in the basic packages however are in the mid-range packages. Many couples opt for a pre-wedding session as they feel it compliments their story and album. They are not required, but they do provide an opportunity for you to get used to the camera and help me get to know you.

WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO GET MY PRINTS, ALBUMS, AND OTHER ORDERS?
In most cases the turn-around is quick, though keep in mind there needs to be enough time to adjust and retouch images, order products and prints from labs and delivery. Generally, the proofs are sent within a couple of weeks and from there it's up to you to choose which of those you wish to be in the album or prints.

HOW DO WE LOCK IN A DAY?
If you're ready to go ahead and lock in your day, send me a note for the booking form, fill in, sign and return. Note, only bookings accompanied by payment of the retainer are officially locked in.
